2017 NOVA Stacks the deck for pro-nukes!

2017 “The Nuclear Option”

More tomorrow, but in the meantime ... if you know me, you know where I stand on this stuff, but let's keep it in the light, where we can all see each other for who we are ...

Once venerable documentarians reduced to propaganda shills in its 5th installment on Fukushima, titled “The Nuclear Option.”  TEPCO bets big on nuclear power and found these guys and gals to support them!

When/if you listen to the NOVA documentary, pay attention to how SOLAR and WIND alternatives are dismissed immediately by these corporate sell-outs ...

See also the 2013 pro-nuke documentary Pandora's Promise and then some discussion about the film at Friends of the Earth.

I took a few notes during the NOVA documentary, what with the dangerous resurgence of pro-nuclear scientists joining forces with one of the worst nuclear polluters on the planet, TEPCO, advocating for more nuclear power and opening all TEPCO's shut down nuclear power plants. “Safe,” though, it will be safe, they say. Like coal can be “clean,” like Fukushima, 3-Mile Island, Chernobyl and 47 other power plant accidents never happened and won't in the future. I suppose that's their premise ...

The list of anti-nuke speakers in the NOVA film is easy to produce -- there weren’t any. But there were short clips of people with microphones in Japan making noise at night, and, of course, Fukushima survivors who are adamantly against nuclear power ever again being utilized in Japan.

Why is it that those affected on a personal level have a reaction different from TEPCO, I wonder ...

The narrative presents the fallible binary argument: we must choose between fossil fuels or uranium. Except to denigrate the development of sustainable resources, nary a mention of SOLAR, WIND, TIDE, THERMAL, etc. alternatives, but $Billions poured back into the upgrades of TEPCO nuclear power plants. Follow the money ...

Here are the Pro-nuke speakers on the NOVA documentary. This is the same old list of propaganda think speakers with different or familiar names (does it matter?), but the same corporate message ...

Dr. Charles Till ... Nuclear physicist and associate lab director at Argonne National Laboratory West in Idaho. He is co-developer of the Integral Fast Reactor, an inherently safe nuclear reactor with a closed fuel cycle. The jet that couldn’t fly ...

Lake Barrett Former U.S. Energy official who oversaw Three Mile Island cleanup hails Japan milestone. Reminiscent of George Bush telling "Brownie" he did a good job in New Orleans after Katrina.

Nathan Myhrvold “explains why the nuclear power option is needed … with toasters!”
